MILNER BACKS HART

Manchester City and England midfield stalwarts Gareth Barry and James Milner have backed City and England team mate Joe Hart for the vacant captaincy role of The Three Lions.

The goalkeeper, who became England’s first choice goalkeeper after the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa, is believed to be a strong candidate for the captain’s armband and the endorsement of his two team mates might just prove to be the clincher for the 24 year old.

Having worked his way up the ranks at the Etihad Stadium before the oil money was poured in, Joe Hart is one of those players who was able to hold on o his position in the side with the arrival of new star names and one of the first players to be brought to the blue half of Manchester using the oil money, James Milner has openly backed his team mate, saying that there is no other option but to hand over the captain’s arm band to him.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney and Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard are also believed to be strong contenders for the role vacated by Chelsea defender John Terry after he was removed as the captain of The Three Lions by the FA.

However, it is being believed that Hart, in spite of being the youngest and least experienced of the three frontrunners, might just manage to be the captain of England at the European Championships in Poland and Ukraine due to the unavailability of Wayne Rooney in the first few matches due to a ban and the injury crisis of Steven Gerrard.

And with the backing of team mates such as Barry and James Milner, Hart would not do himself any harm if he prepared himself mentally for leading The Three Lions out in the European Championships.
