Milner has nightmares about missing World Cup
Manchester City midfielder James Milner has revealed he has nightmares about missing the World Cup in Brazil next summer, stating that no player in the world wants to miss out on playing in the biggest tournament of The Beautiful Game.
However, Milner, who was a part of the England team that played in a friendly in Brazil last June stated that it was the people of the country that has made him feel that it will be an absolutely wonderful tournament, adding that the people there eat, breathe and sleep football, going on to mention that to those people, football is life and being able to play in front of them will be an honor in itself.
England qualified for the tournament when they beat Montenegro and Poland in two consecutive matches earlier this month and speaking about the World Cup, James Milner stated that playing that friendly in Brazil last summer made him realize what a great tournament lies in store for them going on to mention that the atmosphere he witnessed during that friendly match was a brilliant experience as well.
The former Aston Villa player stated that he has been very lucky to have played in a World Cup and a European Championship already but to be able to add a World Cup in the spiritual home of football will be a great experience for him as well as for the other players and the travelling fans too.
Milner hasn’t been a regular starter for Manchester City this season and he hopes that doesn’t impact his position in Roy Hodgson’s World Cup squad come the summer. James Milner is also adamant the England team is good enough to mount a decent challenge for the trophy when the tournament proper begins in June 2014 along with the big guns.
