James Milner says that he has no regrets about quitting Manchester City
James Milner says that he has no regrets about quitting Manchester City for Liverpool in the summer.
The England midfielder joined the Merseyside outfit the summer on a free transfer after letting his contract with City expire. Many questioned the move since Milner had a lot of opportunities to win trophies at City. Liverpool, meanwhile, have won the League Cup in the last decade. However, things have been promising at Anfield of late especially after the arrival of Jurgen Klopp. The German was appointed midway through the season after poor results shown by Brendan Rodgers.
The club has been flying high in the second half of the season and they have just reached the Europa League semifinals. Liverpool managed to overcome Borussia Dortmund in one of the most exciting nights at Anfield, as the home team won 5-4 on aggregate. Reaching the semifinals gives a lot of confidence that Liverpool can lift the trophy. This would not only add a title to the collection, but it will also bring Champions League football back to Anfield next season. Milner’s former club Manchester City, meanwhile, will be involved in the semifinals of the Champions League – not the Europa League – with Real Madrid.
Milner is confident of adding more trophies to his cabinet, which includes the Premier League. “I came here not only to play games but to win trophies. And I believe this is an exciting time for the club with the ground changing, the manager coming in and a young squad.I feel really happy. It was a tough decision to make and I would have been happy whatever decision I made. But I’m delighted to be here and I just want to contribute to the history of this great club,” said the England star. Milner was immediately made as the captain upon his arrival.
