Milner Confident In City Abilities
Manchester city midfielder James Milner says that his team are very confident of catching Liverpool in the title despite the 3-2 defeated the suffered against the Reds recently. City went to Anfield with a great opportunity to move one step closer towards the title, but they suffered a 3-2 defeat that has taken the title destiny out of their hands. Liverpool will now be able to win the title if they win all their remaining matches in hand. Despite this setback, Milner has stated that this will not stop city from trying to eat into the lead in the remaining matches of the season.
City will take on Sunderland, who are rock bottom of the table, in the next league match. This will be at the Etihad stadium where they have been impressive throughout the season. However, they have suffered a shock defeat against the likes of Wigan at the stadium in recent times. Milner has become an important part of the city team since joining from Aston Villa a few years ago. He was expected to be named in the squad only because of being an English player, but he has proved to be more than influential than the likes of Jesus Navas, who were signed in the summer.
“If we are looking at their results and hoping they slip up, and take our eye of the ball, we’re not going to be ahead of them anyway. So it’s vitally important we bounce back quickly. We have another game, so it’s a quick turnaround,” said Milner. The former Newcastle United and Aston Villa man has made 30 appearances in all competitions this season.
Even though he has scored only two goals in these matches, he has contributed with some impressive work rate and assists. Since Silva is going to be missing for the next few matches, Milner’s presence is important.
