Liverpool vice-captain James Milner has given his team a big boost on the injury front after he returned to training ahead of the trip to face Leeds United at Elland Road. Leeds United will take on the Reds at home later this weekend and James Milner could feature for the visitors after recovering from the injury he picked up last month.

Milner returned to Liverpool training ahead of what could be a potentially tricky game against Leeds United. In the corresponding fixture last season, Leeds United scored a late goal to rescue a 1-1 draw against the Reds.

Ahead of the trip to Elland Road, Liverpool have a big injury update with Brazilian international Roberto Firmino ruled out of the game. The former TSG Hoffenheim attacker will miss out of the game against Leeds United due to the hamstring injury picked up during the Chelsea game just before the recent international break.

Firmino was subbed off for Portuguese international Diogo Jota as a result of the abovementioned hamstring problem as Liverpool were forced to a 1-1 draw at home by 10-man Chelsea. The visitors took the lead in the first half through German international Kai Havertz before they had a man sent off when English right-back Reece James was adjudged to have handled the ball on the goal line. Mohamed Salah didn’t make any mistake from the resulting penalty as he scored to ensure that the two teams went into the break on level terms. In the end, the two teams settled for a 1-1 draw

Milner started the first two games as Liverpool scored five goals and conceded none in two games before that run was halted by the draw at home to Chelsea. In their first game of the season, the Reds beat newly promoted side Norwich City 3-0 away from home before their second league game of the season ended in a 2-0 win at home to Burnley.
