James Milner admits Pellegrini making them watch DVDs

Manchester City and England international midfielder James Milner has revealed how new club manager Manuel Pellegrini is teaching the players the style of the Spanish way of playing football, by making them watch hours of DVD footage of his former club Malaga. PELLEGRINI APPOINTED

Manuel Pellegrini has been appointed as the new manager of Manchester City. His appointment was confirmed by the club on Friday.

Pellegrini will replace Roberto Mancini who had been sacked after the defeat of Manchester City against Wigan Athletic in the final of FA Cup last month.

Pellegrini has signed a 3-year deal with the Premier League runners up. His annual salary will be 3.4 million Pounds.

MILNER MAKES A NAME FOR HIMSELF

Signed from Aston Villa a few years ago, James Milner has managed to establish himself as one of the first team regulars at Manchester City despite intense competition from several stars.

The England midfielder has stated that he is extremely self-critical about his performances, and he does not need anyone like the manager to give a verdict on his performance. The 27-year-old has played under 11 managers in his last 11 years of football in the top flight. He has said that Mancini remains as one of the toughest managers to please amongst those he has worked under in these years.

CITY WIN AT ARSENAL

Manchester City has defeated Arsenal in a Premier League match played at Emirates Stadium on Sunday. City won the match by 2-0. This was an emphatic performance by the Citizens.

In the first half, they were all over the Gunners. Arsenal played better in the second half, but, it failed in making up for the damage which was already done in the first half.

CITY CAN STILL QUALIFY

The Manchester City midfielder James Milner has said that he is confident that the team can qualify to the last 16 stage of the Champions League despite needing a lot of results to go their way. City have taken just one point from the opening four matches in the group stages.

This means that they have to win the final two matches against Real Madrid and Borussia Dortmund, while also hoping for other results go their way. Mancini admitted after the draw with Ajax at home in the previous European game that the hopes of the club qualifying for the next round seem extremely slim.

DELIGHTED

James Milner has said that he is delighted with his performance in England’s opening World Cup qualifying game against Moldova. England thrashed Moldova in that match by 5-0. Milner scored the fourth goal for England in the 74th minute of that encounter.

That was Milner’s first goal at the senior level. As per Milner, he was ecstatic after scoring that goal. Nothing can give more satisfaction than scoring a goal for your country. It felt great. But, it’s just the start and he would like to score some more goals in the upcoming matches.

Kompany wants RVP at City

Even though his manager has stated that City are probably out of the race to sign Robin Van Persie, Vincent Kompany has still revealed to the press that he would love to play alongside the Dutchman. As speculation continues to linger about the Arsenal forward’s future, Kompany has revealed that he is a huge admirer of the player and that he would improve any team in the world.

ENGLAND HAVE A CHANCE

Manchester City midfielder James Milner has said that he is extremely confident that this current crop of players for the national team will be able to achieve success in the forthcoming international tournaments.

England were not the favourites to win the Euro 2012, but they would have been hoping to get past the quarter-final stage of the competition, which has proved to be a major hindrance in the previous international tournaments.

MILNER WILL LEARN

Manchester City midfielder James Milner has said that he expects England to learn from their past mistakes and do well at the Euro 2012.

It has been a very poor preparation for the major tournament by England after they had to see manager Fabio Capello resign at the last moment. Former Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has been appointed as the England manager for the next four years, but it will take something special from England in order to be successful at the Euro 2012. England have not done well at major tournaments ever since winning the World Cup in their home country.
